I will forever be indebted to our therapist

When my baby girl was born, breastfeeding seemed to be going well, or so I thought. Being my third baby, I felt confident that I had it all under control. She latched on easily, and I experienced no pain. Those early days with my newborn were blissful. However, the bliss was short-lived.

During her two-week appointment with the pediatrician, my heart sank as we learned that she wasn't gaining enough weight. I was devastated, convinced that I was unintentionally depriving my baby of nourishment. Seeking guidance, I promptly scheduled an appointment with a lactation consultant. She informed me that my little one had a tongue tie and recommended a release provider who could address the issue. I thought to myself, "Perfect! This will solve everything, and we can continue our breastfeeding journey without any setbacks."

Without delay, we had the tongue tie release procedure done that week, without any preliminary care. As I held my baby girl in my arms for her first latch following the procedure, I recall the dentist asking, "Does it feel any different?" my response, "Not really." Eagerly, I returned to the lactation consultant, only to be met with disappointment. My baby's weighted feeds still remained unchanged. It shattered me, I remember crying the whole drive home..

The lactation consultant then suggested considering bodywork with a chiropractor. Although hesitant, I was willing to try anything that could help. So, I did a few sessions with a chiropractor. While we noticed some minor improvements, they were not significant enough to enable exclusive breastfeeding. Desperate for a breakthrough, I continued to look for other solutions.

It wasn't until I discovered therapy specifically for tongue ties that things began to shift. After just one session, I could tell the difference. My baby became more alert during feeding, and I could feel her sucking more effectively. The homework we were given was simple and made such a difference that I felt I could help my baby at home. My milk supply started to increase. She started using her tongue more efficiently, and with each passing day, I felt closer to her, understanding her needs more. Our journey continued, and we managed to breastfeed until she turned one—a milestone I attribute to our incredible therapist's support and the immense progress achieved within a few sessions.

I will forever be indebted to our therapist for empowering us and helping my precious girl overcome her challenges. Through her expertise and dedication, she guided us towards a path of successful breastfeeding, nurturing a bond that will last a lifetime.
